Yoga For The People-Tis a gift to be Simple....

I really loved this New York Times article. Check out the link to read it in entirety. It's easy to forget the beauty of Simplicity. Yoga is simply breath, movement & meditation. So the pants, mats, the 'perfect' space, etc. aren't really what's needed. As a clever yogini said, "You can buy Lulu pants, but you definitely can't buy a mulabandha!"
I think it's also a good lesson in 'grace'. We say grace to show gratitude before a meal, we move with grace when we feel connected, and we define grace in the dictionary as a 'disposition to be generous, helpful; goodwill'. When I see my students move with grace, I know they are finding a profound simplicity that produces refined, efficient, focused actions. Whether it's during asana practice or more importantly off the mat, I say more grace and less consumerist rat race.
